Common Auto Injury Symptoms

Here are some common auto injury symptoms

  1. Headaches: A common symptom of a concussion, which is caused by a blow to the head that causes the brain to bounce around inside the skull. Many people usually have headaches for one or two days after an accident. A headache could be a sign of an injury to the head or sometimes even a concussion.

  2. Neck injuries: Whiplash is a neck injury that is usually associated with car accidents. Most cases happen due to rear-end vehicle collisions. Dizziness and loss of range of motion in the neck are common signs of a whiplash injury.

  3. Back and spinal cord injuries: Back and spinal cord injuries are common during an accident because soft tissues such as tendons and back muscles can be pulled or strained. The small discs along the spine can also be twisted or even pushed out of alignment.

  4. Facial injuries: Many people usually have facial injuries such as cuts and scrapes. Facial injuries are easily noticeable and may bleed.

  5. Dizziness: Dizziness is by far the most common injury symptom among motor vehicle accidents. The shock of the incident often makes accident victims feel disorientated, lightheaded, or unbalanced.

  6. Shoulder pain: Seatbelts rest across the shoulder, so there is a chance that you can develop shoulder pain after a crash, especially one that occurred at high speeds.

  7. Bruising: Bruising is another common symptom you can expect to experience after a car accident. Bruises result from damage to the capillaries in your skin.

  8. Numb or Tingling Sensations: You may experience numbness, pain, or tingling in your hands, back, neck, and other extremities if you suffered nerve or tissue damage in the collision.

  9. Psychological Issues: While most accident victims expect to experience physical injuries, they can also suffer from emotional and mental conditions.

  10. Pain in the Abdomen or Stomach: If you were wearing a seatbelt during the crash, it probably put a lot of pressure on your body at the moment of impact. Sudden and forceful constriction of the abdomen and stomach can cause bruising and trauma.

  11. Swollen Extremities: Swelling is a very common physical car accident symptom that all crash victims should expect if they experience trauma to their bodies.

  12. Tinnitus: You may have tinnitus if you experience ear ringing after a collision. While tinnitus might not feel like a classic physical symptom you’d expect to experience after a car accident, it can indicate a serious bodily issue.

  13. Concentration and Memory Issues: Head trauma, psychological shock, and mental stress from a collision can cause brain fog and make it challenging to remember things that you normally recall with ease.

  14. Dizziness and Blurred Vision: Head injuries, PTSD, and other accident-related conditions can result in dizziness and blurry vision. It may take a significant amount of time from the day of your accident to develop blurred vision and dizziness, making it important to look out for these symptoms.
